Doctor Alexander Myasnikov warned about outbreaks of diphtheria

cough
A well-known physician recalled that diphtheria is a deadly infection.

Doctor Myasnikov said that the spread of diphtheria occurs by droplets and, first of all, the infection seeks to gain a foothold in the respiratory tract and lungs. A film forms in the throat of sick people, attempts to get rid of it cause bleeding. Alexander Myasnikov noticed that the film can spread through the nasopharynx and respiratory tract, clogging them. The consequence of this process can be death.

The doctor drew attention to the fact that many consider diphtheria a disease of the past. But, for example, in the 1990s, several thousand cases of death from the effects of diphtheria were recorded among Russians and other residents of the CIS countries.

“Diphtheria outbreaks are still occurring,” the doctor warned.
According to Alexander Myasnikov, immunity to the disease can be “washed out”. So, by the age of 60, even if a person has been ill or vaccinated in the past, he is still at risk of catching this infection due to a decrease in antibodies.

Myasnikov warned about the danger of disinfecting entrances

“If there is no epidemic in the country, you will not get sick. But if you are in a place where diphtheria occurs – we are talking about the same Novosibirsk region, where new strains appear, where diphtheria circulates, where there is a high chance that a variant with the production of endotoxin will appear – this is already a problem, ”the specialist stated.
Alexander Myasnikov stressed that it is possible and necessary to be vaccinated against diphtheria not only in childhood. He also advised adults to get vaccinated against whooping cough – immunity to it also “falls” in adulthood.
