Cardiologist Vadim Zakiev: thanks to “good” cholesterol, the risk of cardiovascular diseases is reduced.

Cardiologist Zakiev spoke about the existence of “good” cholesterol cholesterol, which is high-density lipoprotein (HDL). According to the doctor, “good” cholesterol protects against the development of atherosclerosis.

““Good” cholesterol, unlike “bad” cholesterol, not only does not increase cardiovascular risk, but also helps reduce atherosclerosis,” he told Gazeta.Ru.
In turn, it increases the level of “bad” cholesterol. cholesterol is promoted by an increase in the blood concentration of low-density lipoproteins (LDL). Such an increase often means that the body becomes susceptible to the development of vascular and heart diseases. The abundance of “bad” cholesterol is a direct path to atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction, Zakiev emphasized.

The cardiologist added that the most effective way to increase the content of “good” cholesterol in the body is to eat something similar to the Mediterranean diet. The diet includes sea fish and seafood, nuts, vegetables and fruits, red meat only in moderation, sweets only to a minimum, no canned food, but a little red wine is allowed.
