Cardiologist Maria Serova: physical activity should train, not wear out the heart.

Cardiologist Serova clarified in a comment for aif.ru what physical activity helps the heart stay healthy. The doctor emphasized that both a lack of movement and exercise and overload are harmful for maintaining good heart health.

“In order for the exercise to train the heart and not wear it out, it is important to receive it in a safe heart rate (HR) range. This range is different for each person,” the specialist shared.
Serova added that cardiovascular disease prevention is facilitated by moderate-intensity aerobic exercise at a minimum level of 150-300 minutes per week.

“Regular physical exercise, such as walking, swimming or yoga, helps strengthen the heart muscle and improve blood circulation,” the cardiologist listed.
Moderate strength training twice a week is also useful. The doctor noted that they should begin practicing them with low-intensity physical exercise, gradually moving on to more intense workouts.

Maria Serova drew attention to the fact that psychological health also helps the heart stay healthy, because the heart muscle is very sensitive to hormonal fluctuations in the body that arise due to experiences, anxiety, and worry.

“Meditation and deep breathing help reduce the load on the heart associated with stress,” the cardiologist explained.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about why a heart attack can suddenly develop, and cardiologist Yulia Marshintseva pointed out its causes.
