Alzheimer's disease: signs when urinating

Alzheimer's Disease: Urinary Signs
Because of the prevalence and harm that dementia causes, scientists are working hard to try to identify new treatments, as well as early signs that the condition is takes root. These include symptoms that appear when visiting the toilet.

One of these symptoms is urinary incontinence.

Urinary incontinence is described as “small occasional leakage of urine, continued leakage after urination, or complete loss of bladder control.”

One of the most common forms of urinary incontinence is an overactive bladder, describing it as “especially common in people with dementia.”

Overactive bladder usually causes a feeling of sudden and intense need to urinate and frequent urination.

The Alzheimer's Agency adds:
“Women are also at particular risk for urinary incontinence, called stress incontinence, often caused by pregnancy and childbirth.
“This is when coughing, sneezing, or laughing causes a small amount of urine to leak.”< br>Although incontinence can be a sign of dementia, this is not always the case.

Other causes include:

• Urinary tract infection
• Constipation
• Prostate Problems
• Medication Side Effects
• Other Intestinal Problems
