Tattoo lovers face cancer

Tattoo lovers are at risk of cancer
Tattoo ink may contain chemicals that provoke malignant neoplasms. They mutate when exposed to the sun and are so small that they can invade cells.

A new study by researchers at New York University has found that tattoo ink may contain dangerous, toxic, cancer-causing chemicals. The scientists found that nearly half of the 56 tattoo ink samples they took to the lab contained compounds that, when exposed to ultraviolet light from sunlight, turn into cancer-causing chemicals.

From blood poisoning to tumors – the truth about tattoos

Some of the ink contained particles smaller than 100 nanometers, which can penetrate into the very nucleus of cells and cause cancerous mutations. The researchers sadly point out that the tattoo industry in the United States is largely unregulated, even though today almost a third of all residents of this country have some kind of tattoo. But in Europe, blue and green pigments are now banned precisely because of concerns that they can provoke tumors.

Tattoo enthusiasts are more at risk of sunstroke

Tattoo enthusiasts are already at risk of bacterial infections due to skin lesions or blood-borne diseases like HIV and hepatitis if equipment is not properly disinfected . Over time, people with tattoos may develop nodules or granulomas around the tattoo or scar tissue. (READ MORE) NYU
