Skin problems? Check your gut!

If you are not satisfied with the condition of your skin, do not rush to the beautician. Perhaps the problem is in the intestines.

Endocrinologist Natalya Liberanskaya told what is the connection between disorders in the intestines and the appearance of the skin.

Dry and dull skin, rashes, irritations, age spots – many people face these problems. And instead of understanding the problem deeply, most people go to a beautician for cleaning. Meanwhile, it is not the skin that needs to be treated, but the gastrointestinal tract.

“There are many more factors that unite the skin and intestines than one might imagine. These organs are a reflection of each other. Both of these organs take an important part in maintaining homeostasis (self-regulation of the body). Both perform a barrier function. And both have a microbiome,” says the expert.
Our microbiome is the billions of different organisms within us. Their total weight can reach 3 kg. All of them are interconnected and influence each other. When the balance of microflora is disturbed, pathogenic bacteria increase.

The intestines and the liver can no longer cope with their tasks of detoxifying the body, the accumulated toxins begin to “hit” the skin. And now we already see rashes, acne, inflammation. After all, the body removes toxins to the outside with the help of sweat glands.

Tobacco is called a super drug for skin problems

Seeing acne, dermatitis, rosacea on the skin, a competent cosmetologist will definitely offer to be examined for intestinal pathologies, and only then peels and cleansing.
