Hair loss hits the psyche
The development of alopecia or hair loss is associated with poor mental health due to increased feelings of shame. This conclusion was made by researchers from the United States.

A new study has shown that the psychological impact of alopecia, or baldness, is widespread in today's society. Hair loss significantly impairs the quality of life of adults, as sociological surveys have shown, many feel a sense of shame, discomfort, humiliation or irritation due to the progression of this unpleasant condition.

Every fifth woman loses her hair

Of the 800 patients over 18 years of age, 442 were men and 358 were women. In the 18 to 30 age group, 30% of men and 27% of women reported hair problems that negatively impacted their social lives. Most often, victims of alopecia avoided contact with others. It was about alopecia areata – an autoimmune disease that affects both sexes and leads to hair thinning and hair loss. It should be noted that hair loss itself and the loss of their volume or baldness for many centuries has been associated with stereotypical standard beauty and appearance of a person.

What health changes lead to hair loss

Recently, a shaved head has become fashionable among men, and in some cases, a well-formed hairstyle builds self-confidence. But among women, alopecia is definitely a reason for the strongest shame and embarrassment, it provokes serious psychological disorders. Studies show that approximately 50% of men and women, regardless of age, suffer from alopecia to one degree or another. A number of factors lead to it, including physiological, chemical, hormonal changes, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, heredity, infections, neoplasms, and much more. (READ MORE)
