doctor
As oncologist, candidate of medical sciences Andrey Pylev, said, every fifth stomach ulcer degenerates into cancer. The process of development of a malignant tumor in its place depends on several factors, the main one of which is location.

The oncologist warned that almost all ulcers that form on the greater curvature of the stomach sooner or later become cancerous tumors.

— Large ulcers of two centimeters and longer-term peptic ulcer disease also pose a threat. Of course, the risks increase significantly over the years, he said.

The ulcer is located on the gastric mucosa and can cause pain, discomfort, nausea, and other symptoms. Ulcers occur for various reasons, including Helicobacter pylori, long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), stress, and poor nutrition.

Stomach cancer is a malignant tumor that can develop in the gastric mucosa. An ulcer is considered a precancerous condition.

Some chronic ulcers increase the risk of developing stomach cancer. If the ulcer does not heal or causes persistent symptoms, this is an alarm signal.

If you have a stomach ulcer and you notice the following symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor:

– Unexplained weight loss
– Constant vomiting
– Blood in vomit or stool
– Increased pain or change in the nature of pain
– Loss of appetite
