Everyone knows that you need to drink regular water. What and how much – experts told.
As reported by Rospotrebnadzor, many studies have been carried out to identify the exact average daily volume of water required to maintain health.
– But there is no absolute figure – it ranges from 1.5 to 3 liters of water per day. Everything depends on gender, age, condition of the body, the nature of a person’s work and even the time of year, says the department.
There are rules that will help you decide:
- In hot weather you need to drink more often – water helps cool the body
- Workers of heavy physical labor and athletes need more water
- If a person takes medications, for output will need more liquid
- Children need more water than adults – they are usually very active.
What is water for?
- Removes salts, toxins and waste that accumulate in cells.
- Stabilizes kidney function. The more a person drinks, the easier it is for the kidneys to remove harmful substances.
- To lose weight. The less water your body contains, the easier it is to gain excess weight.
- Lubricant for joints. Frequent drinking helps prevent arthritis and arthrosis.
- Thermostat. It takes away excess heat, cooling the body.
- For healthy skin. Due to dehydration, the skin becomes dry, loses elasticity, and becomes less permeable.

Water intoxication, also known as hyponatremia, is a condition in which sodium levels in the blood become too low due to excessive water consumption. This can happen when a person drinks too much water without taking in enough electrolytes, especially sodium.
Symptoms of water intoxication may include:
- headache,
- nausea, vomiting,
- convulsions,
- drowsiness,
- loss of consciousness.
In some cases, water intoxication can be dangerous and require medical attention.
