Toxicologist Kutushov: inappropriate packaging and improper storage of products sent to the refrigerator can contribute to poisoning.

Toxicologist Kutushov gave advice about storing food in the refrigerator and immediately drew attention to the common practice of keeping food in plastic bags or cling film. The expert noted that this method of storage should be avoided. Products stored in cellophane produce condensate, which promotes the growth of bacteria.

Also, according to Kutushov, food wrap should not be used to cover ready-made meals left in the refrigerator.

“It is better to eat leftovers store in containers without using cling film,” a candidate of medical sciences told aif.ru.
At the same time, the expert explained that keeping many vegetables in the refrigerator is more appropriate in plastic bags.

“For example, carrots, beets, and other root vegetables in the refrigerator will have to be stored in a bag, vegetables will wither in a different package,” Mikhail Kutushov shared.
At the same time, the toxicologist advised storing carrots and potatoes in dark bags, since under the influence of light they produce the toxic substance solanine. Cucumbers are also stored in plastic bags in the refrigerator. Tomatoes, on the contrary, do not tolerate cold storage. Fresh greens are stored in a refrigerator in a jar with a lid, or in a glass of water.

Speaking about the proper storage of sausages, cheeses and pastries, Mikhail Kutushov pointed out that cellophane and film are contraindicated for these products. In film and bags, they produce condensation, causing them to deteriorate quickly. It is best to keep such products in parchment paper.
