Doctor Elena Churakina told what foods should be included in the daily diet for the good functioning of the brain.

In particular, the doctor noted that among the nutrients that improve brain function, omega-3 fatty acids stand out, which are the main components of cell membranes, including neurons. Speaking about sources of omega-3, the doctor recommended that Russians eat fatty fish, such as sardines, mackerel, chum salmon, salmon or the more affordable herring. According to Churakina, such fish should be consumed at least twice a week.
The doctor also included sources of choline and B vitamins in the list of products that improve brain function. The expert explained: the substance choline promotes the formation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is involved in the processes of regulating memory and other cognitive functions. As for B vitamins, they are necessary to maintain the normal functioning of the nervous system and to create neurons.
Churakina noted: eggs are an accessible source of these substances important for brain activity.
In addition, the doctor called nuts useful for the brain, especially walnuts and almonds – they contain magnesium, vitamin E and polyunsaturated fatty acids that improve learning and memorization functions.
