According to infectious disease doctor Andrei Pozdnyakov, in early December the incidence of influenza will begin to increase.
Doctor Pozdnyakov recalled in an interview that in the current autumn- In the winter season, a very large number of Russians will encounter the flu – with the beginning of winter, the wave of infections will steadily grow.
“The most common strains of the virus will traditionally be the group A influenza virus strains circulating – H3N2 and H1N1. These strains prevail throughout the world and it is they that cause global outbreaks,” Pozdnyakov told Rossiyskaya Gazeta..
The doctor added that the flu has a short incubation period: a person can feel the symptoms of the infection just a few hours after infection. Pozdnyakov also drew attention to the fact that with influenza, on the first day of illness, a sudden increase in temperature occurs – this infection is characterized by a sharp onset of malaise. In addition to a rapid rise in temperature, people with the flu notice a severe headache, as well as aches affecting the muscles and joints.
“Symptoms arise and rapidly increase against the background of severe weakness caused by intoxication of the body. On days 2-3, in typical cases, a dry, unproductive cough appears, and its attacks can be painful. A runny nose is not typical for the flu,” Pozdnyakov shared.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that a sharp headache can be a sign of meningitis.
